The Livingston Food Resource Center is prepared to provide nutritious food to all Livingston and Park County residents who need emergency food support while we deal with the COVID-19 outbreak. Special efforts will address the immediate needs of our most “at-risk” citizens, the elderly and children. Distribution methods have been changed to minimize contact and help prevent the spread of the virus.
Any and all people who need help are invited to pick up food bags at the LFRC on Tuesdays between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm and on Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Pick up will be “drive-through” in the LFRC parking lot. Clients do not have to leave their vehicles and enter the Pantry; prepared food bags will be brought to them and placed in their vehicles.
The Healthy Weekend program, that provides supplemental weekend food to all Livingston school children, is suspended until further notice. But to ensure that all children, particularly those who receive free and reduced-price meals at school, and their families, have access to nutritious food, the LFRC will be distributing special food bags that can be picked up at the Center. These food bags will contain basic items such as pasta, beans, rice, milk, eggs, ground beef, bread, fresh fruit and vegetables. Ready-to-heat-and-eat food items such as macaroni & cheese, prepared in the LFRC commercial kitchen, will also be included. No preregistration is required. The pickup time for children/family food bags will be each Friday between 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Pick up will be in the LFRC “drive-through” lot; recipients stay in their vehicles.
The Pantry Supper Club program that provides dinner meals to senior citizens will be expanded to include anyone over the age of 60 who is unable, for any reason, to shop or prepare meals for themselves. Supper Club meals are prepared specifically for an older population. They are delivered each week, frozen, and can be easily heated in a microwave oven.
